About Luis GarciaBuilding Bridges, Yes We Can
I want to thank everyone for visiting our campaign’s page, GarciaforArizona.com. After a lifetime of political activism, I threw my hat into the ring for Arizona’s state legislature in District 15 this past January. Why am I running? Our legislature makes decisions which affect people every day. As an Arizona resident, military veteran, and community leader I have effectively worked with people in the community by opening dialogue and building bridges to create a better Arizona. It is sad to admit that some of our elected officials have lost touch with the people they represent. That is why our campaign team will always include people who live in the district when making important decisions affecting them and the state. This is especially important in District 15 where issues facing our residents are as diverse as our demographics. I want to bring clean, green businesses into our state that provide good-paying jobs while being an advocate for education, affordable health care, a cleaner environment and equality for ALL Arizonans. I believe we can work together as a community to solve our local and state problems. I am running to represent you in the State House in District 15! As a Veteran of the United States Air Force I have had the honor to serve our country and protect the freedom of all Americans. I strongly believe in our founding documents and our constitution that clearly state ALL people are created equal. This equality should be real for every Arizonan regardless of race, gender, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, age, gender identity or expression. As a member of the Crystal Meth Task Force I joined people from numerous communities: the drug and alcohol treatment community, the faith-based community, the LGBT community and others to take statewide action through public education and a real treatment plan for those not yet lost to Meth. As founding member of Human and Equal Rights Organizers (H.E.R.O.) I, along with concerned members of the community, helped create inclusive coalitions to secure civil rights in local communities. Recently we teamed up with the City of Phoenix to fight the graffiti problem affecting our neighborhoods. As an contractor for the Riverside School District I have helped the district partner with local business and elected officials aimed at increasing student achievement through business involvement by bringing new technologies and resources to the classroom. Some of my other work and achievements include:
I am running to work with you to make this Valley and State an even better place for the future. I look forward to meeting with you and I ask for your support. Thank you, Luis Garcia, Candidate for Representative of Arizona District 15 |
